Wednesday, November 6

Dr. A.W. was away at the American College of Rheumatology annual conference, then took a little vacation time. She emailed us the results of last month's blood work: CK 122, LDH 207, AST 24, ALT 15, Aldolase 7.8, von Willibrand's factor 143, Sed Rate 6, white blood cell count 6.7, Hematocrit 36, and Platelets 403. Stuff is a bit higher than last time, but still all in the normal range.

One interesting note about the ACR conference is that one of the papers presented was a study at Children's Hospital about the use if topical Tacrolimus (Protopic) in JDMS kids. Julia was one of the kids in this study, and it looks like the stuff worked wonders for all 10 kids in the study. It certainly feels good to be a small part of progress in medicine.

Happy Thanksgiving, everyone!

We are spending this week on vacation on Cape Cod, including today. It's our first-ever Thanksgiving that we are spending alone with just the three us, but it's been a lot of fun just hanging out, watching movies on the VCR, and eating too much.

I also want to report that Julia has been growing like a weed in recent weeks! In the course of the past month, she has outgrown literally two-thirds of her wardrobe all at once! Replacing her clothes is honestly something we don't mind at all, after almost 4 years of her wearing out the same closthed because she was not growing at all as a side effect of Prednisone. I swear, you can almost watch her getting taller these days. I do think that the Endocrinology estimate of Julia's ultimate height is going to come up short, literally.
